Sierra Blanca Nature Area

Refugio de Juanar by Ojen/Malaga Province

is a popular nature spot for the whole family. Especially in the autumn because wild growing chestnut trees are found here and you can pick the eatable chestnuts.
You find the turnoff to Juanar just 5 minutes after the village of Ojen when coming from Marbella
Refugio de Juanar is a hunting lodge and a small hotel and restaurant. Here you park your car and follow the forest road up to the Viewpoint (Mirador), it is a leisurely hike. For more experienced hikers, you can find other opportunities like Cruz de Juanar and the summit of La Concha (1215 m).

At the Mirador you will have fantastic panoramic views towards the coast and Marbella. At the viewpoint you find a bronze statue of the mountain goat (Cabra de Montes) which is a symbol for the Sierra Blanca Nature area.

For our picnic spot we have chosen a large rock near the Mirador. But you will find some stone benches at the viewpoint or on the way some wooden tables with benches.
