Tastes of Andalucia

Restaurants and food we have savored on our travels:

Restaurante El Cerezo
Canillas de Albaida, Axarquia, Málaga Province
Migas is a typical dish served in most restaurants in Montes de Málaga and the Axarquìa region. 
There are many varieties to be found from savory to sweet.
Migas (crumbs) is basically a dish made of fried breadcrumbs spiced with garlic and bacon and served with chorizo fried egg etc.                                               


Bar Nuevo
Alozaima, Sierra de las Nieves, 
     Málaga Province



Bar Nuevo is located at the road leading into the village. It serves a terrific set menu (Menú del Dia) and it is very reasonable. 




Inside the restaurant at the far end you can find a panoramic window overlooking the valley.

This is just one of the dishes on the menu. 






Restaurante Las Flores
El Colmenar Estación de Gaucin, 
Serranía de Ronda


Restaurante Las Flores has a very warm atmosphere with interesting decor. 
On the menu you can find local dishes like wild boar (Jabalí), rabbit (Conejo) and venison (Venado).

Restaurante De La Rubia
Monda, Sierra de las Nieves, 
Málaga Province
The restaurant is located in the centre of the village.  
It serves local dishes and tapas.

El Restaurante Quercus
Jimera de Libar, 
Serrania de Ronda, 
Málaga Province



The restaurant Quercus is a converted railway warehouse.  










It had a warm atmosphere and the decor is rustic, but the menu was modern and innovative. 







We ate:
Exotic fresh salad with prawns.
Chicken kebab with sesame soya dressing.




Restaurant El Mirador
Ardales, Embalse Conde de Guadalhorce, Málaga Province


The restaurant El Mirdor is located near the Reservoir of Guadalhorce in the Nature Park of Desfiladero de los Gaitanes.  



The setting is quite unique, like
the restaurant was carved in the hillside. The decor is kept very rustic.    
Inside you find various terraces and from the tables you will be pleased with panoramic views overlooking the lake.
The menu is extensive and the meals are served fresh with local products. The service is friendly and helpful. 
It is worth to mention that they are able to book the entrance to the Caminito del Rey for you.
It is certainly worth a visit just to take in the views over a cup of coffee and some homemade cakes. 



Artichokes (Alcachofas) 
A juicy rich and very tasty dish best eaten with some bread.







Spareribs (Costillas) coated with honey served with white cabbage and potato salad. 
Very tasty and tender.




Restaurante Audalázar
Atajate, Serrania de Ronda
The restaurant Audalázar is located in the street Calle Nueva towards the north of the village. 
It is on the first floor and it has a garden terrace to the back. 
The menu is traditional Spanish 
fare.

certainly melted in your mouth.
Served with fresh vegetables and chips.

It was very tasty.





Restaurant Peña Flamenca 
"Aguilar de Vejer"
Vejer de la Frontera, Cadíz Province

The restaurant Peña Flamenca 
"Aguilar de Vejer" is situated in the heart of the old town of Vejer de la Frontera in CalleRosario. It is actually a Flamenco club and on weekends you can dine and are able to listen to some traditional Flamenco music at the same time.

The building itself used to be an old church and the acoustics  are certainly exhilarating.
              





Presa Iberico is very thinly sliced shoulder of pork, grilled and sprinkled with rough sea salt.




Atún Almadraba Grilled tuna steak.
The tuna fish is caught off of the coast of Cadíz, and Almadraba, describes the method which is used to catch the tuna, this method has been used for centuries.




Meson Anafe, Parauta, 
Serranía de Ronda, MálagaProvince


You find the restaurant Mesón Anafe right in the heart of the small mountain village of Parauta, just 20 minutes from the town of Ronda.






The restaurant is set on various levels and has a traditional country decor, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The menu offered typical dishes for this region and depending on the season, you can find venison, wild boar, rabbit, 
wild mushrooms and of cause chestnuts added to sauce or made into deserts.  






Ensalada de Tomates
(Tomato salad)






Plato de la Serranía 
(Mountain dish)

This is a substantial dish packed with calories and it consists of Spanish sausages like chorizo and morcillo, fried eggs, green peppers and chips.
Idea for a starving hiker.







Jabalí con Salsa de Setas
(Wild boar in wild mushroom sauce)
The meat was very tender and tasty and certainly a mouthwatering dish.








Restaurante Central 
Archidona, Málaga Province


Restaurante Central is a traditional restaurant serving Tapas and Ál la carte with lots of local dishes on the menu. 
Just ask the helpful staff for the specialities.


Wild mushrooms with fried eggs (Setas con huevos fritos)

was just one of the delicious dishes we had.





Tapas Bar Taberna del Zorro
Gaucín, Serranía de Ronda
Málaga Province
  
The Tapas Bar La Taberna del Zorro, serves good and reasonably priced meals, You can find the restaurant in the square Plaza del Guzman el Bueno.
The restaurant is small and cosy inside or of cause, you are able to sit outside and watch the village life move by.

Another dish is Presa Iberica which is also very tasty
